Fire Breathing, Maybe!

On a sweltering hot mountainside overlooking a warm ocean Humphrey the dragon was born. He and the other little dragons born at the same time grew and grew and grew and grew and were soon ready to learn to breathe fire.
The little dragons were so excited, they each grabbed a firestone, popped it in their mouth and chewed and crunched and swallowed. Then they tried to breathe fire....
Humphrey opened his mouth and breathed out haaaaaa and out came something, but it wasn't fire! He closed his mouth very quickly again, hurmmph. Mom and dad just stared. What was this? They had never seen anything like it.
What was happening to Humphrey? Would he breathe fire? Would he learn to be himself even if he was different?

The Swimming Trouble

Humphrey the dragon flexed his wings and shook his little body, trying to shake away the nervousness he felt.
He was excited, but the nervousness kept growing inside him too.
Humphrey didn’t want his friends to think he was not brave, so he was trying to act like he felt completely fine...
The little dragons and their moms and dads were gathered downstream from the great waterfall. Today the little dragons would swim for the first time!
Would Humphrey be able to swim? Would his bubbles be okay in the water? Would he listen to what his parents had told him when he discovers something exciting?
